We stayed at The Angel Hotel for the weekend. Cannot fault our experience from start to finish. The staff were polite, attentive and professional. The food was exceptional quality. The rooms are clean, airy and spacious. The complimentary toiletries were a nice touch too. We’d sincerely recommend stopping here or even coming for a bite to eat. Thank you for providing us with a great experience. 😊

I was going to pay to stay there for the night. Thank god I didn't. I went to a better hotel. The bells hotel. I went in to the angel pub. To have couple of drinks and play a little bit of pool. I got drunk and I lift and no one said anything to me. Went back to say sorry for
Me to get very drunk and suddenly this old woman working in the bar said I called her husband a busted. She kick me out and because am asain. She would not even listen to me. She listened to everyone else. Do not worst your money in there. You know this year has been very hard for me. I just wanted one night to enjoy myself and for me to forget my pain for one night. Make everyone laugh. This what makes me happy to jokes with people and to show people I can be happy. But people who work. Can not see that. They don't care.

Reading the mixed reviews of the Angel from over the years we took the chance and were very pleasantly surprised. Not only is the hotel steeped in history, there are tales of hauntings and supernatural happenings, the room was lovely and …

We stayed three nights. The staff were nice, the breakfast very good. BUT the room was filthy. The stained and dirty carpet was in need of a good vacuum. Every surface was thick with dust. Not just a few specks but thick grey clods I did ask for the room to be cleaned that didn't happen. We paid three nights in advance, I couldn't afford to not stay. Never again.

Pros.
Rooms comfortable but windows barely close.
Staff very attentive.
Great breakfast.
Cons.
Hotel showing it's age.
Location is great if you want to hear the locals chatting and swearing outside until 2/3am.

Thank you for his help. One young quiet lad working at the bar. I was really very panicking as I'd travelled a massive long way to reach coleford. My destination was to reach Symonds yat but bus didn't run so taxi was my only option. ||This …

Superior room was basic and dilapidated, extremely noisy. Devoid of hospitality - we returned from a day out to find the bed unmade - a fact that staff refused to accept or apologise for. An experience best avoided - our mistake, but the …

Went to have a drink for my friends birthday this weekend and got turned away at the door by the owner just because he “said so”. After deeper discussion it was decided it was because one of the 8 people of the party (4 girls 4 boys) had their “tits out” when wearing a top with a gap on her cleavage. Not aware of any dress codes and the way this was said to us when all above the age of 18 (didn’t bother to ask for ID anyway) was so disrespectful and derogatory making us all uncomfortable. Turning down 8 customers for 1 girl who had a slight show of cleavage is ridiculous and shows how little he cares for his business or an inability to control his inappropriate thoughts/behaviours for potential customers who are more than half his own age. Would not recommend to anyone who has any respect for themselves or female peers. Basically only go if you’re wearing a morph suit!!!

Lovely village atmosphere in a friendly hotel. The bed was super comfortable and we slept well. Breakfast yummy. Kippers and poached eggs in particular with granary bread a favourite of mine. The owners and family work extremely hard taking care of the guests and the 9 rooms.
Nearby activities: Great location for wildlife walks and local eateries.
Noteworthy details: Wonderful owners.
Historic features from old coaching inn days.
